Country: Germany

Weight: 60gm, nickel mounted, octagonal

Condition: Good - a few marks, recently re-haired.

Description: A German violin bow stamped "Tourte", weighing 60 grams with a nickel mounted ebony frog and leather thumb pad & grip. A dark brown finish with a hint of warm red. Balance point approximalely 26.8 cm from adjuster end.

Characteristics: Produces a warm and responsive sound. Firm & smooth with considerable power. Suitable for an intermediate / advanced student player, it is excellent value.

Background: Most likely to have been produced in a German bow workshop. It's worth remembering that some of the greatest German bow makers opened workshops that employed apprentices to
make bows intended to sell at varying prices. They would usually oversee the production, with the result that many of the products from German bow workshops can be really very good.
